Who We Are

The Group was formed in 1989 and it has grown steadily since then.  We now have around 100 members coming from an area stretching from Cardiff in the East to Carmarthenshire in the west and Rhondda Cynon Taf in the north.

Each year we hold events approximately monthly. These are generally talks from October to April, and garden visits during the warmer months.

The talks are held at the Williams Memorial Hall, Main Road, Coychurch, Bridgend CF35 5HD on a weekend afternoon. As well as speakers, we generally have a plant raffle and teas are available after the talk. Many of the speakers are also nurserymen who bring plants for sale. See the Programme of Meetings page for more details.

A coach is organised for the garden trips, with pick-up points along the M4 corridor. At approximately two year intervals we also arrange a weekend trip away which allows us to travel further afield. At the other extreme, we usually have at least one visit to a local member’s garden during the year.

We also hold at least one plant sale a year to both allow the spread of more unusual plants and to help generate funds for the group.

Check the Events pages for details of trips, visits and plant sales.

We produce two newsletters a year, in March and September, which provide details of the programme for the next six months.
